Security components When, where, why

Everyone’s security needs are different. In addition, there are the framework conditions in which a house or apartment is located or in which the lift and slide door was installed. The Resistance Class (RC) essentially provides information about how long a component can withstand attempted break-ins. The resistance classes are regulated in the DIN EN 1627 standard.

For example, RC 2 N states that lift and slide doors with burglar-resistant components must be able to withstand simple tools such as screwdrivers, wedges and pliers for at least three minutes. We recommend this resistance class for all lift and slide doors that are used on the ground floor or are easily accessible.

Thermal insulation up to passive house standard

With the right lift and slide door you can save money on your energy needs, because in addition to suitable insulation, the right windows and, for example, patio doors are also important. In low-energy houses, the U-value, which describes the heat flow through a component, should not exceed U 1.2 W/(m²-K) for windows/lifting sliding doors. In passive houses, the U-value must be below U 0.80 W/(m²K) for windows/lifting-sliding doors.

The QuinLine® 74 lift and slide door from SCHMIDT is suitable for low-energy houses with a U of 0.82 W/(m²K). The QuinLine® 84 lift and slide door can accommodate higher glass thicknesses and has a U-value of U 0.71 W/(m²K) and is therefore suitable for passive houses.

Sound insulation for a pleasant living environment

Suitable noise protection is essential to ensure that you can sleep well. Our QuinLine® lift and slide door insulates up to 44 dB (decibels), which is generally within the normal noise range and is perceived as pleasant.

Examples of noises and resulting decibel values:

10 db: breathing, rustling leaves
70 db: vacuum cleaner, running tap
110 db: chainsaw, disco music
