Generation change in the management: A tradition is continued

SCHMIDT GmbH specialises in PVC-U lift and slide doors and is an established name in the window industry. The family business, which has been firmly rooted in the region for over 75 years, is now writing a new chapter in its company history. Since 1 January 2025, Teresa Schmidt-Bertsch has taken over the management of the company from her mother Maria Schmidt. This means that the management of the company remains in family hands.

Teresa Schmidt-Bertsch has been closely involved with the company as a shareholder for many years and has overseen a wide range of areas. ‘I am looking forward to continuing the values of the company and at the same time actively shaping the future of SCHMIDT GmbH,’ explains the new Managing Director.

The handover of the baton to her daughter is above all a sign of sustainability and the future viability of the company. ‘It was always important for me to be able to hand over the company to the family. Teresa not only has the necessary expertise, but also a deep understanding of the company’s direction,’ reports Maria Schmidt.

The handover will be seamless. Meinolf Funkenmeier will remain at Teresa Schmidt-Bertsch’s side as Managing Director, ensuring continuity. ‘Together, we want to continue along proven paths and drive innovation at the same time,’ explains Meinolf Funkenmeier.

The company was founded in 1950 by Arthur Schmidt and taken over and systematically expanded in 1975 by Josef Schmidt, father of Teresa Schmidt-Bertsch. SCHMIDT GmbH has specialised in PVC-U lift and slide doors since 1976. After the sudden death of Josef Schmidt, his wife Maria became part of the management team in 1996.

With the QuinLine® lift and slide door, SCHMIDT GmbH is recognised by window manufacturers for its quality, partnership-based cooperation and innovative ideas. With around 130 employees, the company is a reliable employer in the region.

The new management will preserve these values and at the same time set new trends in order to meet the challenges of the market in the future.
